Tai Chi is the fascinating ancient Chinese art of health, relaxation and self-inquiry. By studying Tai Chi, we learn to sense and apply the principles of Yin and Yang, improving your health and vitality through these gentle movements.
The slow meditative movements induce relaxation and a sense of calm to the practitioner. Graceful and effortless in its appearance, the light drifting postures flow unceasingly from one to the next. The calm exterior conceals the vibrant circulation of energy (chi) and internal exercise, which provide it's many well-documented health benefits. Tai Chi progressively improves health and physical condition without the strain incurred by more vigorous exercise regimes. Through gentle exercise, concentration and relaxation the body and spirit gradually stretch and strengthen, elevating the self to higher states.
While many study Tai Chi solely for health and relaxation, many of the movements and ideas it teaches can be used for practical application, studied through the use of two person exercises and Tui Shou (Pushing Hands). The Ma Tsun Kuen system of Tai Chi that some of our members have studied puts particular emphasis on this idea, and our Ma Tsun Kuen classes are a great way for those who wish to understand the practical applications of Tai Chi movements to do so.
Though more challenging than it first appears, this wonderful art offers a great learning experience through self-expression, form and function.
Tai Chi classes with Zheng Dao Lo are available in many locations, and are very popular amongst mature students as the gentler form is less physically taxing than our other arts.
