Find a lesson at a time and place that suits you, and turn up!
For the most part, all of our regular weekly classes will happily accept drop-ins and beginners and do their best to accomodate you. If you have any specific concerns or queries, contact the instructor in question and they'll help you out.
We also sometimes hold beginners workshops or courses. These are in no way mandatory - our regular classes will get you involved and up to speed in no time! - but they give an opportunity for a slower and more in depth introduction and explanation of technique. item.
That's okay! Everybody was a beginner once, and all of our instructors are happy to help guide you on the path no matter what level you're starting from. Unless specifically marked, none of our classes need you to have prior martial arts knowledge.
A typical class will cost £6-8 per lesson, with discounts available for those who pay monthly fees or attend multiple classes per week. Students, under 15's and seniors may also be eligable for discounts, depending on your instructor. An annual membership & insurance fee of £30 per year is also required, which is also offered at a discounted rate for those who set up monthly payment schedules.
However, because we offer so many different classes in different styles and locations, our prices vary between each instructor. For specific pricing information, please talk to the instructor of the class you wish to try.
As a beginner, we recommend you bring a bottle of water with you, and wear comfortable loose fitting clothing - a plain t-shirt, loose trousers such as jogging trousers, and soft shoes such as trainers that allow your feet to flex. Should you choose to join us as a member, uniform and other equipment may be required as detailed below.
Kickboxing
Kung Fu
Tai Chi
You don't need to be fit or flexible to start a martial art. Our classes will help you to develop a level of fitness needed to suit them without any prior work.
Some of our classes will be more vigorous than others, but none of our Instructors will ever ask you to push yourself beyond your abilities, and you'll be surprised how much you will already be able to do and how quickly you will improve
Martial arts can be learned from any age, and while some may be easier to begin at a younger age none are beyond your reach if you are interested.
As a guideline:
Like many modern martial arts, we use a grading sytem of coloured sashes to give students a way of tracking their progress. Beginner gradings are done in or after class with your regular instructor, and regular Grading events are undertaken for advanced grades, overseen by our head instructors
